Summary:The water balance method, using meteorological variables interpolated from data from the meteorological stations network of the National Institute of Meteorology (INMET), can contribute to the efficient use of irrigation water in the region. In this way, this work was aimed at espacializar solar radiation using the Inverse method of the Distance Power (IDP) from the data measured in 14 automatic meteorological stations in operation in the area, a radius of approximately 250 km from the city of Petrolina-PE. The obtained values of the power of the interpolator were equal to 2.7, 4.0, 2.7, 2.1 and 2.7 for the annual, winter, spring, summer and autumn seasons, respectively, with average relative error small and comparable to instrumental error.
