Summary:Nocardia species is rarely encountered in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients. Its isolation usually implies colonization. Of all other Nocardia species, Nocardia transvalensis is very unusual and is clinically distinguishable because of its resistance to aminoglycosides, a standard antinocardial therapy. We report a case of N. transvalensis pulmonary infection in a CF patient.
