The authors used general and special research methods, statistical methods of data processing. The article reflects the key problems of investment activity development in the Volgograd region. It is noted that during 2011-2015 the Volgograd region ranks third in the Southern Federal District by the volume of assimilated investments in fixed capital. In 2015 investments in manufacturing prevailed in the overall volume of investments in fixed capital in the Volgograd region. The sources of funding investments in fixed capital in the Volgograd region in 2015 are distributed almost evenly between private and attracted funds. The study revealed that along with the positive trends there is a number of problems constraining the investment activity of the organizations of the Volgograd region.
