From this background a new construct called self-perceived academic status is suggested (Hernández, 2001; Hernández, Muñoz, Asensio, Caro, 2004, 2005). The research sample are 3,230 Compulsory Secondary School (ESO) 4th grade students (61,34%) and 2,036 Upper Secundary School (Bachillerato) 2th grade students (38,66 %) from Community of Madrid. Taking into account the confirmatory factor analysis it is concluded that the four theoretical proposed indicators of the construct of self-perceived academic status show statistic significance. The theorical grouping presented in the hypothesis and the unidimentionality of the construct are confirmed. Besides that, we can corroborate that the relationship between self- perceived academic status and professional and academic interests support construct validity since preference for university studies are related with higher self-perceived academic status and lower intermediate vocational training studies with a lower self-perceived academic status (Hernández et al., 2004, 2005).https://revistas.comillas.edu/index.php/miscelaneacomillas/article/view/11616modelos de medidaestatus académicoautoeficacia académica
