| Summary: | The familiar structure by clan of urban medieval society, regulated by codes of revenge, gives a propensity to political instability, and offer a particular conception of political representation. I focus on the case of Casa di San Giorgio, a very original institution in Italian Middle Age. This authority of governance was responsible for the political economy of Genoa in lieu of the elective chamber and of the government. Casa di San Giorgio devoted itself to common good and survived, because it was independent from warrior and nobility elements of the town: the common interest was finally the realization of capitalist welfare in Genoa. |
