It was studied many growth conditions in comparison with Czapeck Dox Agar. The best growth of the fungus, observed at given conditions (pH 4.5; 6.2 , presence of magnesium ions), was chosen to study the interaction fungus-gum which was demonstrated by the enzymatical activity. The production of -D-galactosidase, supports by the presence of -D-Galp-(16)- Galp in the branches of A. occidentale gum structure, may suggest that galactose is used as carbon source by the fungus.
