Description
Summary:In this paper we will try to provide evidence from qualitative research with women athletes. Through the development of life stories and interviews, we analyze the pressures which, particularly during adolescence, suffered by their social environment to leave a sport considered «not just right» for them. It is about women footballers who have continued today practicing this sport in a federated form. However the stories serve to define the complex world of relations of gender in sport and, above all, highlight the use of discourses such as the homobofia and sexism strategies to redirect the bodies of young athletes, who seem to get away from hegemonic models of femininity. The existence of these speeches allows a better understanding of the reality of the sports drop out by adolescent girls.
