Description
Summary:An Archaeological research has various purposes, one is to direct a  historical reconstruction emergence and the collapsing of a dynasty and the other, can also be used to reveal the socio-cultural aspects of a community group in the past. Some problems of social-cultural in the past may be connected with some social cultural problems that occcured today. The issue to be revealed in this paper is the perception of ancient Javanese people on the meaning of "beauty" for Javanese women.  In this case, the researcher used the historical-archaeology as a method; this approach seeks an equal combination of “historical” and “archaeological” data to the study of the past.  The results of research on Durga statue from Prambanan Temple and Prajnaparamita statue from Singasari temple, East Java seem to represent the perception of "beauty" for Javanese women during that time.
