Description
Summary:It aims to introduce large business groups’ performance into two Brazilian policies related to textbooks’ provision: the National Textbook Program and the Private Education Systems’ sales, in the period 2010-2015. In particular, it focuses on the Somos Educação case, the largest Brazilian group in K-12 education in the country. The information was gathered from sites of the National Fund of Education Development, Audit Office of São Paulo State, Somos Educação and national media. It is observed that this privatization trend expresses a global movement in which the social rights field, guaranteed by public policies – K-12 education in special –, has been transformed into a business field.
