Summary:This paper discusses the use of PBL as an alternative approach to promote both content and second language learning. It proposes that PBL process which has long been applied in other disciplines especially applied Sciences could be adapted and successfully incorporated in TESL classroom to engage students in much more meaningful learning. The advantages of using PBL approach are discussed, in particular its positive effects on language learning, motivation, and the holistic development of TESL students. The paper concludes with a detailed look at how to incorporate PBL in the TESL classroom. Examples of problems that can be used to initiate PBL will also be shown.
