The reviewer gives a critical analysis of the book by N. V. Merkulova and S. V. Motashkova paying attention to logical, terminological and methodological shortcomings of the work. At the same time, acknowledging that some of the shortcomings revealed in the paper arise from general theoretical and methodological problems of literary onomastics, the reviewer outlines possible applications of the semantic model of onoma suggested by M. V. Golomidova and E. L. Berezovich to the analysis of proper names within literary texts.
