FROM THE RIVER I AM, "FROM THE BORDER I AM": THE IDENTITY RELATIONSHIP OF WOMEN FROM THE RIPARIAN COMMUNITY OF NAZARÉ-RO WITH THE MADEIRA RIVER

The identity of an individual is not defined biologically, but is the result of a social construct, being formed from the interaction with the other and with the place. In this sense, we can verify that there is a close relationship between identity and place, once in place the feelings of belonging manifest, making it important components from the identity of an individual or the collective. This research was conducted in the Riparian Community of Nazaré, located in the region of low Madeira, in city Porto Velho, State of Rondonia. This study aimed to analyze the water, especially the Madeira River as an important element in the identity formation of riparian woman of Nazaré Community. The construction of this article is based on the first field observations from the construction of the doctoral thesis, in this way, methodologically the research is composed of qualitative character and the methodological procedures used were from bibliographical research and field research, which is characterized by observation and contact with the community. It was found under a preliminary perspective and from the observation of everyday characteristics; the Madeira River has an important influence on the identity construction of Riparian women of the Nazareth community.
