Summary:The present work has the purpose of describing some explanatory models of the chronic illness. Psychosocial evolutionary models are proposed, based on the cycle of the chronic illness and the cycles of individual and familiar development that include a frame of social network in which the evolutionary cycles register. Models with different paradigmatic perspectives that have done approaches to the comprehension and intervention of the same are shown, discussing some lacks that these would present. Some units of analysis and intervention inside different models of the chronic illness are exposed, which are decomposed in their constitutive facets and it is finished comparing the detached approaches. It is shown in the analysis of the explanatory model of every model their areas of intervention from psychosocial optics.
