Description
Summary:To contribute to the Nariño Biodiversity Action Plan and following guidelines for investigation of the GAICA group of the University of Nariño, we reviewed ans summarized existing information about bird records of the department of Nariño. We found a total of 1048 species of birds that includes 155 migratory species and 242 species classified as endangered, threatened or requiring protection according to AICA/IBA criteria). The Department of Nariño stands out as an important center for the bird conservation in Colombia since it shelters a high number of endemic species, with restricted ranges and is considered by some authors as center of speciation.
