Description
Summary:The article discusses the results of legislative elections in 2010 in order to assess the political/ electoral inclusion of women. It seeks to show how the way of counting votes and allocating seats, the type of constituency and list, affect the degree of incorporation of women in Congress. Addition, it outlines some hypotheses about how certain dynamics within political parties influence the inclusion of women. Besides, proposes to elaborate some hypotheses about the political success of women and their political careers in Congress. The central thesis of the text is that an explanation for the low presence of women in Congress cannot be upheld in the isolated analysis of either of these factors, but requires a complex look that allows seeing the degree of influence of each factor in the political presence of women at this level.
