Leptofoenus pittfieldae sp. n. is described and figured from a single male preserved in Early Miocene (Burdigalian) amber from the Dominican Republic.  The fossil is compared with its modern congeners and comments generally provided on the taxonomy of the subfamily, including a key to the two genera.
