Recent CMS Results
The CMS experiment obtained a large number of groundbreaking results from the analysis of 7- and 8-TeV proton-proton collisions produced so far by the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. In this brief summary only a few of those results will be discussed. The new scalar discovered in 2012 has been studi...

In this brief summary only a few of those results will be discussed. The new scalar discovered in 2012 has been studied in detail and all its characteristics have been found in agreement with standard model predictions for a Brout-Englert-Higgs boson. The large sample of top quark events collected in 2011 and 2012 have allowed world-class measurements of its mass; the combination of those results is Mt = 173.49 ± 0.36 ± 0.91 GeV. The rare decay Bs0 → μμ has been observed and found in agreement with standard model predictions; the search for the rare decay B0 → μμ has allowed to set a 95% CL limit on the branching fraction at 1.1 × 10−9. These two results strongly constrain new physics models. http://dx.doi.org/10.1051/epjconf/20147100041 |
