Description
Summary:In the current heart of Spanish cities pets are already an everyday reality. Legislators have been obliged not only to regulate the conduct of pets in public walkways, but also in private spaces. This is a phenomenon that demonstrates not only the need to support public order in the streets, but also the increasing social interest for animal welfare, since certain types of conduct and respect for behaviors by animal owners are now increasingly subject to municipal regulation. A sample of the positive changes is offered by Cerdanyola del Vallès in its current regulation on animal possession; "Ordenança Reguladora de la Tinença d'Animals Domèstics i de la Conducció i Tinença de Gossos Considerats Potencialment Perillosos [Regulatory Ordinance on the Ownership of Domestic Animals and the Conduct and Ownership of Potentially Dangerous Canines]". This regulation offers us the response to the reality of our times with regards to domestic animals from a local perspective.
