Summary: | Objective: To evaluate the influence of meteorological variables in the number of hospitalizations
for pneumonia and bronchial respiratory disease in children, adolescents and adults in the city of
Anápolis from 2002 to 2012. Methods: A retrospective analytical study based on DATASUS data
and the climate data of the Meteorological System of Goias. Results: During ten years occurred
31,001 hospitalizations of respiratory disease. The median hospitalization in fall was greater than
the median hospitalization of other seasons only for the group of children and adolescents (p =
0.0001). A multiple linear regression model showed that the maximum temperature and
maximum relative humidity predict almost 20% of the number of asthma hospitalizations in
children and adolescents: the number of hospitalizations for asthma = 1,89maximum relative
humidity - 3,37maximum temperature - 29, 3 (r2 = 0.20, p <0.0001). Conclusion: The increase in
the number of hospitalizations for respiratory disease in fall can not be explained solely by
climate data and hospitalization for asthma in children and adolescents is associated with
increased relative humidity and the temperature reduction. |
