Description
Summary:The downfall of Saddam Hussein's authoritarian regime following a lightening-fast military intervention in the first half of 2003 by an (uncertain) coalition of countries under the military command of the United States has created a power vacuum and multidimensional internal instability that may well affect the neighboring countries, especially due to the transnational nature of the Kurdish and Shi'ite communities. Said instability, which is developing along with an increasing number of armed attacks against the foreign forces stationed in Iraq, both questions and alters the image of «victory» promoted by the administration of G.W. Bush who quickly and triumphantly announced the end of the «main military operations» on May lst, 2003.
