The author discusses the new scale developed according to the results of the ADVANCE trial for predicting the cardiovascular risk in patients with T2DM which may be used widely in these patients to estimate the risk of cardiovascular events and as a tool to assist in determining the intensity of treatment. She considers current approaches to treating T2DM, by using the results of the ADVANCE trial.
