Summary: | Through the Dialogic Discourse Analysis, this paper seeks a reading and a theoretical explanation about retelling, having basis on some Bakhtinian concepts such as speech genres, judgment values, intonation and interlocutors. To do so, it was discussed what the discursive genres, according to Bakhtin (2003), Bakhtin/Volochínov (2006) and some of its exponents, as Machado (2008), Rodrigues (2005) and Marcuschi (2005, 2007), would be. Since retelling consists of telling (a story) again or differently, the theoretical basis for this placements was based on Costa (2008) and, concerning the discussion of retelling the stories, on Marassi (2011) and Francis (2012). This practice analysis is a representative of the classic tale “The Three Little Pigs”, written by a three-years-old girl and is available on YouTube in audio and video format. Thus, the aim is to verify how the judgment value, a lot present in the tale, leads the telling of a story that develops through expressive and striking melodies and that also take the piglets to the final condition of “meat," the food.
