Summary:During the Middle Ages, Saint Augustine was an authority for many Christian theologians. However, they had to deal with the manifold interpretations of his thought by Greek, Jewish and Arabic philosophical traditions. Although it is possible to identify some elements which are purely «Augustinian» in many medieval essays, Augustinism is a heterogeneous approach to philosophy and theology.
