Those data allow us to draw up an overview of household consumption on those territories. Disparities can be highlighted with metropolitan France. Neutralizing structural heterogeneity of populations, it emerges that ultramarine households (with the exception of Caribbean France) have lower spending than metropolitan households, notably for food, leisure and health. They are also less equipped with durable goods (vehicle, washing machine, dishwasher…). When they are questioned about their standard of living, ultramarine households have – ceteris paribus – a more positive perception than metropolitan households. Mayotte stands out both by socio-demographic characteristics of its population but also by the low level of consumption and equipment of its households. This is the result of very low standard of living of the local population.http://journals.openedition.org/etudescaribeennes/11323overseasconsumptionhousehold equipmentappreciation of standard of living
