Description
Summary:This article explores the media narratives of economic adjustment policies on the welfare state in the Spanish context. The objective is to detect the discursive strategies present in the informative story with which the public managers inform about their decisions to the citizenship that has to assume them. Our research question is whether in that mediatization there are inhibiting elements of conflict −social conflict that could be expected as a consequence of imposed austerity. We work on the informative speech of newspapers and television news that cover public appearances of members of the government of Spain.
