Description
Summary:Standarized aerobic anaerobic exercise tests were performed in jumping horses to determinate the relationship between postexercise heart rate and blood lactate. Both parameters were measured at 0, 5, 10 y 25 minutes after the exercise. Our results show statistically significant changes in heart rate at every time of measure respect to the average rest values, whereas blood lactate levels are statistically different only at 0 and 5 minutes. There is a positive linear relationship between blood lactate and heart rate after the exercise but these parameters are not linked with the duration of the exercise or the subject athletic level. KEY WORDS: Aerobic anaerobic exercise; heart rate postexercise; blood lactate postexercise; heart rate-blood lactate relationship
