Description
Summary:This paper introduces potentialities and criticisms of digital textual criticism. The aim is to shed light on the importance of the activities related to text reconstruction with regard to the type of text to be edited. Three types of texts are first analyzed and a markup model is proposed for each of them, namely: the last will of an author, an unpublished text, and preliminary texts of a literary work never completed. The exemplar texts here discussed are: Attilio Bertolucci's authographs (belonging to the 30s-40s period); an excerpt from the original manuscript 2Qq E 29 (sec. XVII ex.) by Teresa di S. Geronimo, and the «manoscritto di Populonia» (1959-1961) by Elio Vittorini.
