Description
Summary:A COMPARASION OF CARTOGRAPHIC CONFIGURATIONS THROUGH BIDIMENSIONAL REGRESSION - Information given in ancient maps give rise to interesting problems about methodology that are not always easy to solve. Bidimensional regression, which was developed in the 1970's by W. Tobler, is a methodology that allows a comparasion to be drawn between cartographic configurations of different periods of time and permits them to be grouped or compared with current maps or even to detect any plagiarism. The exemple we present is an 18th-century nautical chart of Lisbon area compared with a current map and we examine the main methodological problems.
