Summary:In archaic and classical Greek literature, contradictory commonplaces are conveyed about the reception of the supplicant exiles. The disagreements that arise from a blind obedience to the rules of hospitality are often portrayed. A number of examples invite to the greatest distrust of those exiles who knock on the door. However, the Greek tragedy, which is expanding parallel to democracy, proposes to put an end to these old representations.
