Urban history is related with the disciplines that have nourished it &amp;ndash; economic and social history, geography, architectural history &amp;ndash; as well as with some models that have inspired it, such as the School of Dependency, the Annals School, postmodernism and so forth. The shaping of Latin America&amp;rsquo;s historiography will be illustrated throughout key figures and works that are considered especially influential for the region. While reviewing some of the authors and works dealing with the urbanization, the city and its urbanism, a distinction between urban and planning history is aimed at, the latter understood as the history of the discipline and its prospective models.<br>O artigo aborda o desenvolvimento da historiografia urbana e do urbanismo na Am&amp;eacute;rica Latina, desde alguns de seus antecedentes positivistas de f&amp;iacute;ns do s&amp;eacute;culo XIX e come&amp;ccedil;os do s&amp;eacute;culo XX, para depois conscentrar-se no per&amp;iacute;odo em que estes campos sub-disciplinares come&amp;ccedil;aram a definir-se epistemol&amp;oacute;gicamente, desde os anos 1960. A Hist&amp;oacute;ria urbana se relaciona com as disciplinas que a alimentaram &amp;ndash; Hist&amp;oacute;ria econ&amp;ocirc;mica e social, geografia, Hist&amp;oacute;ria da arquitetura &amp;ndash; assim como com alguns modelos que a inspiraram, tais como a escola da Depend&amp;ecirc;ncia, a dos Annales, P&amp;oacute;s-modernismo, etc. A conforma&amp;ccedil;&amp;atilde;o da historiografia latino-americana ser&amp;aacute; ilustrada atrav&amp;eacute;s de figuras e obras chave que se consideram especialmente influentes na regi&amp;atilde;o. Ao se revisar alguns dos autores e obras que se ocuparam da urbaniza&amp;ccedil;&amp;atilde;o, a cidade e o urbanismo, se trata de manter uma distin&amp;ccedil;&amp;atilde;o entre Hist&amp;oacute;ria urbana e do urbanismo, entendendo por esta &amp;uacute;ltima a da disciplina e seus modelos prospectivos.http://www.uem.br/dialogos/index.php?journal=ojs&amp;page=article&amp;op=view&amp;path%5B%5D=214
