Summary: | Digital worlds, those virtual spaces from massively multiplayer video games, are vast and multiple scopes. Thus, it is not uncommon for players to diversify their virtual explorations and to regularly change spaces (game, guild, etc.). In this article, it will be shown, in many ways, how digital worlds are fertile ground for various forms of « virtual migration » and how these player movements impact on the constitution and the management of online communities (guilds). Few are the writings dealing with this specific phenomenon, yet common in the video game experience. I will focus on three migratory movements of players as they were experienced and observed during my ethnographic fieldwork on Black Desert Online and Albion Online : « inter-world migration », « inter-guild migration » and « inter-alliance migration ».
