Description
Summary:The author, through an autobiographical account of the ceremony for the circumcision of her great-nephew, born of Italian mother and Tunisian father, held in Tunisi in August 2006, emphasizes the importance of supporting transcultural parenthood with the aim of guiding the mediation between different upbringing principles and enabling a more integrated growth of the new generations. That experience teaches that relationship dynamics within interracial families require an extra creative integration effort from their members who have different lifestyles and educational practices. At times psychological mediation is required to keep off both adults’ and children’s uncertainties and worries.
