Summary:The article considers the problems of translation of political texts, taking into consideration the linguistic, psycholinguistic and lingual sociocultural factors as well as the most effective linguistic modes which play an important role in the functioning of political discourse. The inaugural speeches of V.V. Putin in 2000 and 2004 are given as the object of study in order to identify specific segments of discourse, basic strategies and tactics.
