Thus, this research is a reflection on the criminal investigation with the use of Facebook as a tool for identifying the linguistic profile of the suspects. According to Coulthard (1985) discourse analysis is undoubtedly a means by which on observes and analyzes the language with the highest incidence in conversational interaction in oral and written texts. The research aims to (a) discuss the concepts of orality and writing in the context of Facebook; (b) explain how the discourse of the internet has its own haracteristics and (c) delimit the characteristics of investigated suspects based on examples from four individuals. The research analyzed four facebook users, all Mozambicans and observed that orality blends in writing, but the opposite does not occur, ie, we can see marks of orality in written text, but in the oral writing text features is not evident. Each Facebook user has his conversational style that is demonstrated through the lexicon, the syntactic construction and the use of foreign words and mozambicanisms. On Facebook, the respect for standard spelling is minor and therefore the use of abbreviations, acronyms and other neologisms are accepted by users. We conclude that Facebook is an important ally that can assist police in identifying the linguistic profile of suspects.https://www.revistas.ufg.br/lep/article/view/44841/22270Linguistic profileFacebookPolice Investigation |
