Description
Summary:To evaluate changes in lipid profile, glucose, insulin and inflamma - tory markers after intravenous infusion of insulin doses used for the assessment of endothelial function. Methods: The sample included 13 healthy volunteers, aged 25 (±4.7) years and body mass index of 24.8 (±2.1) kg/m 2 . The data collec - tions were performed in 12-hour fasting (basal) and after the infusion of the hor - mone. Regular insulin (Insunorm R) was infused at a rate of 0.3 mL/min in seven increasing doses (between 2.5 to 100 μU/mL, for six minutes each) totaling 705 μU. Results: The total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDLc, LDLc, glucose, insulin, protein C ultrasensitive and fibrinogen were not modified (p > 0.05) after intrave - nous infusion of the hormone. Conclusion: These insulin doses may be employed for assessing endothelium-dependent vasodilation in healthy adults.
