Description
Summary:The appreciation of K-12 education professionals following the implementation of the National Professional Minimum Wage [PSPN], Law n. 11738/2008, was examined by means of legal instruments, within the context of developments and changes in the career composition of Piauí public teachers. Based on this Law, the composition of the salary and the remuneration of teachers between 2008 and 2014 was addressed. The teachers’ salary scales published by Piauí State Government were analyzed. It was found a consistency between the evolution of the state teachers’ career and the increase in the minimum wage. The research evidenced that the enforcement of the PSPN in Piauí is marked by political maneuvering, with laws that came to modify the Career Plans and caused a flattening, which resulted in wage losses internal to the teachers’ careers.
