Description
Summary:To achieve this experiment, the biological material was represented by theBotoşani Karakul sheep, ewes and rams of different age categories and of differentcolour varieties (black, greyish, brown, grey, pink and white). The animalsproceeded both from the elite farm of the R.D.S.S. Popăuţi and from theproduction and private farms from the breeding area of this breed. The Karakulbreed is specialized for the lamb pelt production. The classical colours are blackand greyish. The genetic base of creation of new colour varieties was representedby black and greyish sheep which constitute a continue source of numerical andqualitative increase of these varieties applying adequate reproduction andselection technologies. The main morpho-production traits of sheep werementioned, as follows: the qualitative features of lamb pelts, the body growth, thebody conformation and constitution, reproduction aptitudes, milk production, framing in the specific parameters of the Botoşani Karakul breed.
