Description
Summary:This article is about the translation to Portuguese, adaptation and factor analysis of the Maternal Attachment Inventory (MAI), which assesses the maternal emotional bond. Participated 143 mothers of children aged between six and thirteen. The Exploratory Factor Analysis showed two factors that are semantically congruent and complementary, with 39.829% of variance. The internal consistent analysis demonstrated high level of reliability, with 0.907 of Cronbrach’s Alpha. So, the IPVM represents an important and consistent instrument to evaluate maternal bond with mothers and son/daughter between 6 and 13 years. However, it is necessary the development of new investigations that enable the validation of the instrument in the Brazilian reality.
