The article presents the characters of three managers of this library and their contribution to the development of such a single institution and its impact on the nationwide network of public libraries for children. The character and activity of the organizer and the first manager of the library Maria Gutry, then Zofia Wędrychowska-Papuzińska, and Sława Łabanowska, a long-time first post-war library manager, will be discussed. The fate of the library itself is the background to present their activity.
