Description
Summary:The description will have been the biggest forgotten of the semiotic approaches of literature, which favored strongly the narrative, even though it was in the center of the first painting’s and image’s semiotic approaches. The reconciliation between the two semiotic sides of the description is possible only not to identify anymore literature with the fiction and to consider the veridictive uses of the descriptive statements, including in contexts which can be fictional. These uses, with their functions and appropriate purposes, turn out particularly revealing in the case of the descriptions of works of art, as far as they involve two “languages”.
