| Summary: | In 2017 it is 30 years since The World Commission on Environment and Development has published the Brundtland report “Our common future”. Documents of III Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe and the notations of 1.2 resolution adopted in Lisbon has obliged Poland to run forest management according to rules of durable and sustainable development.
Forest economy was based on multi-use forest model with special attention to its environment-creating and social role.
Actions which confirmed introduction of rules of sustainable development into forest practice was: creating 19 Promotional Forest Complexes, systematic increase of afforestation and number of reserves. A very important element was also designation Natura 2000 areas in Poland within European Network of Protected Sites. Amongst those areas, as much as 39% are forest ecosystems.
