Further information on geographical features of the city - country is brief. More about the most important architectural monuments.</em></p> <p><em>The stunning Vatican Gardens are located within the walls surrounding the Vatican City. The tall walls, called “mura leonine” after Pope Leo IV, separate the Pope’s State from the city of Rome. One of the most impressive things about the Vatican Gardens is how impressively huge they are. Indeed, the Vatican City extends for about 44 hectares. The gardens cover almost a half of the city, nearly 25 hectares, and are scattered with a lush vegetation, exotic plants and beautiful artworks such as fountains, statues and buildings.</em><em></em></p> <p><em>The second half of the article describes the characteristics of the Vatican gardens from the cob of creation - from the Middle Ages to the present. The period of the highest architectural development of the gardens, the cultivation of medicinal plants in the Vatican gardens, three courtyards in the landscape style of the Renaissance and the Pinakothek.</em></p> <p><em>The division of the landscape into the following parts is described: Italian, French, English. The undoubted decoration of the gardens, apart from the architecture, is the Lourdes grottoes, fountains, rare vegetation and small parrot inhabitants.</em></p> <p><em>The final part of the article describes the modernity of the Vatican.Keywords: Vatican, gardens, landscaping, park, architecture, cathedral, library, Rome, renaissance.</em></p> <em>You might think you know all about the Vatican City – the world’s smallest country, home to the Pope, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel and of course the magnificent Vatican Museums.
