Evaluation of Risks at a Workplace as an Element of the Risk-Oriented Approach in the Labor Protection

The usual practice is to apply the risk-oriented approach in evaluation of the actual state of the economic entity and in shaping the prospects for its financial and economic activity. A risk-oriented approach in the field of labor protection provides an opportunity for rational allocation of enterprise resources to ensure the necessary level of safety and health and also includes development and implementation of preventive measures to prevent potential incidents that can lead to occupational injuries and morbidity. One of the stages of the implementation of the risk-oriented approach is the evaluation of occupational risks in the workplaces with the further development of measures to increase the level of the occupational safety, which will increase the overall level of safety and health at the enterprises. Based on a risk-oriented approach, to formulate an optimal algorithm and methodology for evaluation of the occupational risks at workplaces as a primary link in the system for preventing occupational risks. Analytical processing of existing normative documents and scientific works in order to develop approaches to the evaluation of the occupational risks at the workplace. Publications, international and national standards, regulations and recommendations are analyzed and summarized. The algorithm and methodology are suggested for evaluation of the risk at workplaces caused by hazardous and harmful production factors, which allows to make decisions on the necessity and sequence of measures for reduction the risks, as well as to determine priority directions of development of safety on work or the most important objects requiring appropriate measures. The proposed procedure for evaluation of the occupational risks in the workplace, including the above stages, is carried out in order to avoid risks; evaluate the risks that cannot be avoided; eliminate the sources of risks, and is an important element of the risk-oriented approach to the formation of a system of management of hygiene and safety at the enterprise.
