Summary:The present study aimed to investigate the professors conception of the elementary education about school health and to characterizethese professionals formation as for this thematic. A qualitative methodology was used, being the sample consisting of 42 professors. The data had been collected through a half- structuralized questionnaire and later analyzed following the proposal of analyzes thematic. As result, it was observed that 62% of the professors had studied health contents, being that 57% have difficulty in working this thematic, mainly due to the theoretical subsidies lack. Regarding the National Curricular Parameters and the health transversal subject, 60% had participated of this qualification. When inquired as for the importance in working health, 37% of them had mentioned health prevention. Therefore, it is observed that the elementary education professors need a specific qualification and a larger support with relation to practices of school health.
