The study is structured into three parts: the obște before 1900, the obște between 1900-1948, the communist period and the one after the retrocession of woodlands and pastures as according to the Lupu 1 Law of January the 1st 2000. During the aforementioned historical periods of time, the principles of functioning of the obște institution are described, as well as the changes occurring in its structure.
