Description
Summary:This article describes the results of textological analysis of Slavic translations of liturgies from the oldest period (11th-14th cc.): the Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom, the Liturgy of Saint Basil the Great and the Liturgy of Presanctified Gifts. It also describes methods of analyzing liturgy based on Slavic manuscripts, taking into consideration the structure of its text, historic and liturgical tradition as well as special features of its translation. The article presents a classification of Slavic manuscript copies and a diagram that illustrates the relation between the different redactions. In addition, the author substantiates the principles of publishing Slavic liturgy: it must consist of two parts – a critical edition of the Slavic translation of liturgy and a table, which shows the composition of the Divine Service.
