| Summary: | This paper refers to different strategy of understanding and treatments of a work of art. There are mentioned three theories of R Ingarden, E. Panofsky and U. Eco, the outstanding philosophers and aestheticians of the last century. In spite of critical opinions regarding usefulness and a need of usage of notion of work of art in the face of latest artistic products, it appears however that this notion still functions well with reference to modernist art and possesses its importance for symbolic culture. |
