Description
Summary:The purpose of this paper is to present the AudioBot project. AudioBot is a robot system specializing in monitoring disorders of the auditory system, such as Aphasias. Aphasia is a language disorder in which there is an impairment of speech and of comprehension of speech. We argue that AudioBot is especially useful to help the audiologists in applying the aphasia therapies at hospitals. In view of this, AudioBot includes a teleoperation interface and a mapping mechanism for obstacles avoidance. Thus, it can be easily operated by a person from a distance. Besides, AudioBot was designed to be a reconfigurable component-based mobile robot capable to adapt for supporting different nursing robot applications. On the other hand, AudioBot hardware platform was built by recycling old PC computer artifacts becoming cheaper and more ecology than others mobile robots. Nowadays, AudioBot are been evaluated by Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Goiânia, a philanthropic hospital from the city of Goiânia.
