Summary: | 56 Sampling sites were established in the study area in the depths varying from 40 through 80 meters. Sampling sites were grouped into 7 sampling areas and in each site benthic fauna sampled with "Van Veen Grab". Based on the acquired results it can he said that in the southern coastal areas of the Caspian Sea, family of Neriidae is dominant and in contrast family of chironomidae shows a poor density. Also, the frequency of benthic fauna in the southwestern parts of the Caspian Sea is much greater than southeastern parts.
