Summary: | The academic structure and faculty in Architecture and Urbanism courses rests primarily on
teachers that are professionals architects and planners, with Expertises, Masters and Doctors
mainly in technical areas and specifics for the course without knowledge and training in
pedagogical areas. Processes are used for teaching based on experiences previous of others or on
personal experiences, either as a student, as a teacher, or as a professional through various trials,
with the analysis of the needs and insights they see necessary, but without any educational basis.
The explanation of pedagogical procedures work, in teaching, learning and assessment, is ignored.
Nevertheless, these procedures need to be focused and pedagogical projects included in the
course, and must be clearly explained to the students and the disciplines evaluated as such. Thus,
the research on the process of teaching within courses of Architecture and Urbanism is quite
relevant. It focuses, in this case, on case study discipline of Urban Planning in the Architecture and
Urbanism of the Universidade do Oeste Paulista. The metodology used is qualitative and based on
theoretical study, documentary surveys on the guidelines of the courses as well as course
specifically studied, and analyze of proposed discipline.
